Relationships
A relationship is any connection between two people, which can be either positive or negative. You can have a relationship with a wide range of people, including family and friends.
A true friend should help strengthen your own biblical values. Proverbs 27:17 explains it this way: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” But the Word also warns that “bad company corrupts good character ” (1 Corinthians 15:33). We want to choose friends who will sharpen us, not corrupt us
(Focus on the Family)
Relationships take work. Anytime you bring two minds together there will be differences. That is our Uniqueness. We need to learn to accept the individuals unique giftings. We are to compliment one another in Friendships and in Marriages or Perspective Marriage. We are not to change one another. That is Between God and each individaul.
There is the Honeymoon phase for about the first 18 months when you start dating. Chemically your mind is excited but then things settle down and you have a choice. Do you want to chase a euphoric feeling or choose to have a lasting relationship. Love is a choice. Don't base it on feelings.
If you are hurt from a recent failed relationship or marriage, please give yourself at least a year to heal. Often you don't realize the damage or baggage you have until you get into a new relationship and an old feeling or thought or wound gets triggered. From Experience and from many friends with experience we say wait. You often get hurt and others get hurt when you haven't healed.
Take time to know yourself. There is freedom in finding yourself. Wait until your wounds are healed.
Meanwhile how are your friendships? Don't surround yourself with Gossips, Bullies, or Negative people. Surround yourself with People who are Positive, Encouragers, and will give you sound Godly Advice that will actually help you be your unique self. They will not try to control you. They will be honest with you. Choose carefully. Also be careful of Jezebels. Guard Your Heart and Soul!
